Dachpferd - registry + sheet- Dachspferd
Dachspferd was bred from unknown bloodlines in the wild, therefore the bloodline is unknown. They were discovered about 10 years ago by a group of students who hiked in a forest. The horses had a weird long body and were built heavily(like cobs). The students reported it to the police, who later on tried to hunt the horses out of the area. As soon as they thought or spoke about it, the people who protect animals tried to stop them.
The horses were rounded up and auctioned. Around 50 of the 70 were purchased. Some stayed in Latvia (Where they were found). Others(35) were bought by other stables and entered in children classes. Not long ago the older mares were crossed to Akhal-tekes, as well as the horses were approved as a breed, back in 2002. They are included in the pony AND horse classes by built. The active breeders(not many) organize a stud sertification, it is included in the horse days in JJS( YRS in english).

Personality
They are friendly, sometimes shy. Good with small children and novice mistakes.
Built
They tend to be cob type horse with an extremely long back. Yet, due to the late influence of Thoroughbreds and Akhal-teke, the horses get lighter by built, yet, it makes their life shorter (back problems and sicknesses) to about 15 - 20 instead of the possible AND reached 30 years. They never (unless due to out-crossing) have any feathering on their feet. They stand 1.4 m to 1.55 m at withers when mature. But there are cases of 1.60 m animals.Coat colours
Dark colours are very popular. The most seen in the Dachspferd is:- Seal brown
Black
Bay
Chestnut shades
Yet, other colours, including creme dilutions, are accepted as well. The most desirable colours are black and liver chestnut.Patterns
Only solid horses are accepted in the registry. However, brindle horses are accepted.Mane/Tail
Mane is short, fine and thin. Tail is full, medium fine and short. The mane can reach the length of 1 hand, tail - 4 hands. THE REGISTRY
